It is one of the most commonly used obesity surgeries in these days. In this surgery, the stomach is made into a thin, long tube. The small intestine, on the other hand, is about 200cm away from where it is attached to the stomach, and the newly created tube is added to the stomach.
After cutting, the available stomach volume is about 80cc. The other part remains in the patient’s abdomen. After surgery our patient can eat a very small amount of food. The small intestine is connected at a distance of 200cm.a portion of the food eaten can not be absorbed in this way weight is lost. Surgery is performed with laparoscopic(closed method)with the help of video-camera. The duration of surgery is about 40-60 mins. During surgery, high-tech intruments called staples are used that automatically seams the stomach and then cuts it. Also if necessary, additional sutures may be thrown in to the seam line for reinforcement.
24-48 hours after the surgery, juicy food is started. Usually 3rd day she/he could be released on the day. Because it is applied with laparoscopic method, the patient is able to perform his/her daily work when discharged.
